Tile Tech Leveling Systems
Tile Tech Leveling Systems
The Tile Tech Leveling system is available in our three showrooms. It is a tool or set of tools designed to ensure that tiles are laid evenly and with minimal lippage (differences in height between adjacent tiles). These systems are commonly used in tiling projects for floors and walls, especially when working with large-format or rectified tiles, which are less forgiving of unevenness.
Components of The Tile Tech Leveling System
- Spacers/Clips:
These are placed under the tiles at the edges to provide consistent spacing and help align tiles vertically. They are available in various sizes depending on the grout joint width. - Wedges:
These are inserted into the clips to apply pressure and level adjacent tiles. The wedge holds the tiles in place while the adhesive sets. - Tightening Tool
- Reusable or Disposable:
- Clips are usually single-use because they break off after the adhesive cures.
- Wedges are often reusable.
How It Works
- Spread adhesive on the surface where tiles will be laid.
- Place clips under or between the tiles according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Position the tiles, ensuring they are flush against the clips.
- Insert the wedges into the clips and tighten them to level the tiles.
- Once the adhesive has cured, break off the clips at their break point (usually by striking them with a mallet or kicking them).
- Remove the wedges for reuse.
Benefits
- Minimizes Lippage: Ensures a smooth, even surface.
- Improves Efficiency: Speeds up installation by reducing the need for manual adjustment.
- Achieves Professional Results: Especially beneficial for DIYers.
Tips for Best Results
- Use a high-quality adhesive suitable for your tile type.
- Ensure the substrate (surface) is flat and prepared before starting.
- Choose the right size of clips based on tile thickness and grout joint width.
- Clean excess adhesive from joints to avoid hard removal later.
